From the Desk of Lalo Telling

20121209-125416.jpgWheeee! Lalo has hired me as administrative assistant! I’m very excited to have my first writing assignment on his behalf. He wanted to let you all know how much he appreciates your tweets and notes and posts. Last night he spent a good bit of time reading tweets, laughing, commenting on them, opening pictures. He was in good spirits and we had a lot of fun. We lit the Chanukiah here in the room. Emspar found a beautiful electric Chanukiah. At candle lighting time Mary, one of the nurses here, joined us. Lalo, being Lalo, explained the ritual to her. He said the blessings and we joined in for the Amen. It was a truly special moment for us all. This morning Mary mentioned it again so I wrote out the blessings for her. (last night she used my iPad).

Best BudsAfter that we looked at a bunch of pics from SL and talked about what had been going on when the pics were taken. We had some great memories of the Bay City parade and celebration. Soon after that it was time for lights out and some rest.

This morning found Lalo checking out the radar (it’s raining) and reading all the tweets from last night. I passed on all the hugs, hand squeezes and smooches you all sent. *grin* One of the perks of this job. :). We’ve decorated the room with blue and silver bows to complement Emspar’s Chanukiah and Gelt. (it’s the gold foil milk chocolate gelt, for those of you who want to know 🙂 ).

We’d just finished with the decorations when we had a visit from the Rabbi. Talk about small world syndrome. Not only did this rabbi know Lalo’s rabbi, he knows MINE as well!!!!! Considering we live I don’t know how many states apart, that’s pretty amusing. It was a lovely visit. Lalo has been having a bit of difficulty hearing in the last few days. He apologized for that to the Rabbi and then said “worst thing for a rabbi, no?”. We all burst out laughing and agreed with him. *laughing*.

After that Lalo read tweets a bit more. Mary the nurse was back. She likes hanging out with us. The nurses love Lalo and are convinced his FL job is as a stand up comedian. He does tire easily, especially his eyes. Right now he is napping so I took he opportunity to let you all know he’s thinking of you loving you and appreciating the constant support and love you are sending him.

There's not much to say about me. I discovered SecondLife by accident, wandered in, and decided I wanted to stay. This blog was a chronicle of my adventures and misadventures in SL. It also includes stray thoughts that occur to me as a result of my time in SL. Both I and my avatar are female. We both love water and the beach and gardening and parties and hanging out with friends. Updating this after quite some time. I haven't appeared in SL in many many months (probably over a year by now) but SL has remained in my thoughts. I do miss my SL, but at least I still have contact with some of my friends from there. In the meantime.... this blog has evolved to be about my RL adventures. :) Nowhere near as risque as my SL but I do keep busy. I still like all the things listed above. I didn't have any cats in SL (only ducks and a panda) so my cats feel that they should play starring roles in my posts. :) I didn't do much eating IN SL although certainly food and drink accompanied me in RL while I roamed inworld. Cooking and baking have become more fun and interesting once I redid my kitchen. That renovation took longer and cost more than if I'd done it virtually, but I'm thrilled to have a tangible new kitchen! I hope you like food and drink as well! Thanks for reading!

  1. Give Lalo a big warm hug from this side of the Atlantic (and the heck the “British reserve”…)

  2. Thank you for taking care of Lalo. I confess to being a little jealous of your new position as his executive assistant! (Lucky you, channelling one of the smartest people I know!) Have fun, take care. Happy Hanukkah!

  3. Happy to hear Lalo is in good spirits! The past few weeks and months have been a lesson to me of the tremendous strength in even our “weak ties”. I’ve long held Lalo’s thoughts about virtual worlds in the highest regard, but I don’t know if we have ever actually met in any of the worlds we inhabit, I’ve just always considered us part of the same network and community. That my emotional response has been so deep is a telling lesson indeed – our shared passion for the metaverse and our connection through common worlds and friends binds us together in ways we don’t expect. I imagine those ties Lalo has made with so many people in so many worlds like a vibrant living network of good will, love, and energy that I hope helps lift and soothe and support all of you through this journey.

Many thanks again Ahuva and Emspar for the updates, and I’m keeping Lalo in my thoughts.

  4. Thanks so much, Ahuva! I’m happy to hear that Lalo is as comfortable as he possibly can be. Send my regards and positive energy to Emspar and Lalo. Be well, and my best wishes to you all. And give my heartfelt thanks to Mary. Hugs and prayers for you all. ❤

  5. Thank you for making this site available for viewing and responding Ahuva.

Good to hear Lalo (Fox as I know him) is comfortable and in good spirits.

Thank you Fox. When interacting with you on Space related forums I was enlightened by your knowledge and desire to explain your views of the universe. I learned a lot as a novice, your tolerant and humble approach set a good example on how to interact with others on the net when debating.

With the fast approaching peak of the Geminid shower my thoughts will be with you, reminding me of the fun exchanges of our observing challenges and experiences.

    Godspeed Fox!
