Mr. Telling’s Office

Well, I think my first full day on the job went okay. I had a lot of coaching from Emspar. (Thanks for the inside scoops!) And Lalo was understanding about my gaffes, especially the one with the faucet. I think he rather enjoyed that one. See – these new fangled faucets don’t have knobs, they have sensors. I got caught several times yesterday. 😦 First I moved a tray from one side of the sink to the other and – splash! – yes, I filled the tray with water. *grin* Then I reached across the sink to get something and drip drip drip – that’s my sleeve. 🙂 But I was told I’d still get my holiday bonus, so I guess the mood is still upbeat.

2nd nightSunday was a quiet restful day. Shortly after the Rabbi left, Emspar arrived and we talked and talked. Lalo woke and we all had some conversation, talked about all the incoming messages, about you all, about the weather. 🙂 It was a very rainy dark day outside. Definitely the kind of day that inspires naps and doing a lot of nothing. So that’s what we did – afternoon naps. It’s what our cats have taught us. We lit the 2nd candle, sang some psalms, and then napped.

Late in the afternoon some friends dropped by to visit. We talked about the local football game, about growing up, the weather, the do’s and don’ts of lighting Chanukah candles and, of course, SL. We shared pictures of many of you and tried to explain SL and virtual worlds. Lalo’s explanation, and I’m paraphrasing here (because I don’t remember exactly and what I DO remember will lose my PG blog rating), was “Either you GET it or you think What the heck”. *grin* I had to agree, don’t you? I mean – we all GOT it and still HAVE it. We aren’t the ones who said “Huh???” We talked about music in SL: the places we love to come and hear music, the DJs we know and love, the live musicians. We didn’t try to explain pose balls this time around. *grin* We dealt with basic avatar issues and prims.

It was a lovely visit and it was great seeing everyone but after that we were pretty tuckered out, so it was lights out time.

There's not much to say about me. I discovered SecondLife by accident, wandered in, and decided I wanted to stay. This blog was a chronicle of my adventures and misadventures in SL. It also includes stray thoughts that occur to me as a result of my time in SL. Both I and my avatar are female. We both love water and the beach and gardening and parties and hanging out with friends. Updating this after quite some time. I haven't appeared in SL in many many months (probably over a year by now) but SL has remained in my thoughts. I do miss my SL, but at least I still have contact with some of my friends from there. In the meantime.... this blog has evolved to be about my RL adventures. :) Nowhere near as risque as my SL but I do keep busy. I still like all the things listed above. I didn't have any cats in SL (only ducks and a panda) so my cats feel that they should play starring roles in my posts. :) I didn't do much eating IN SL although certainly food and drink accompanied me in RL while I roamed inworld. Cooking and baking have become more fun and interesting once I redid my kitchen. That renovation took longer and cost more than if I'd done it virtually, but I'm thrilled to have a tangible new kitchen! I hope you like food and drink as well! Thanks for reading!

  1. A wonderful time indeed. I’d skedaddled to make the trip home by dark (faulty night vision related to the same impairments that prevent me from being an avatar but I get it nonetheless *grins*) so I missed the SL discussion. Ahuva’s presence keeps on giving as she’s arranging for a monitor-sized magnifier to be sent to Lalo. He’s having trouble reading characters on the screen of an old laptop of mine he’s using. He’s grown accustomed to his large, deluxe HD monitors. And yes, Ahuva and I would still be talking!

  2. @emspar I cannot take credit for the magnifier. I turned to SeanMcpherson, Feline Slade, Honour McMillan and my FL coworkers. As always, friends come through. Thanks to all of you – because I knew that all we had to do was ask and someone would figure it out.

  3. Hello from Fort Worth…Jody…a friend of Fox’s…(Lalo). I have night blindness also emspar…rough when darkness impales my life so early in the day now!
    Good Job ahuva 18!!!
