Okay, so the deer ate all my hibiscus. That is sad. BUT: I FINALLY have a butterfly! Apologies for the picture quality. I was about to zoom in when a car drove by and the butterfly flew away. I wasn’t even sure that I’d gotten the distance shot before that happened but I was lucky!
Very nice!
Had my first sighting today. Guess letting grass and wildflowers take over in back has benefits. 🙂
I’m envious of your hummingbirds. I tried to grow some flowers that I know hummingbirds like (because I saw them on my flowers in the past) but none of the seeds took. And given the dearth of butterflies, maybe there aren’t any hummingbirds around either. I think I may need to start putting nets on the hibiscus plants at night. very frustrating
I have maybe one bush that the hummers like – but it appears to be one that they’ll nest in. A giant – I want to say viburnum, but it’s not at all showy. I’d cut it down if it wasn’t for the little brats. The only other things I can offer them are the feeders.
I feel for you with your hibiscus and I’ll train some of the birds to come and defend them for you. They might as well earn all this sugar water. 🙂
