On the road, can’t make it inworld. So I did something as good – I met up with SL friends in “RL”. Erev AH5B I had dinner with Dale. Lovely lovely time – great food, great ambiance and wonderful company. 🙂 Tonight I had dinner with another friend I met first in SL. M is no longer inworld but we stay in touch. I was within an hour of his location today so we met for dinner. Again – a wonderful wonderful time. We’d not seen each other in at least 2 years. We talked and laughed and reminisced. So in a very real sense – I WAS in SL for AH5B. When I got in my car to drive home, Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” was playing on the radio. I thought it quite apt. Since I have no SL photo to share, I’ll share the music. I’ll also share my thought: I wouldn’t trade away a single moment of my SL time. It’s been 5 amazing years. I’ve grown, learned, laughed, hurt, loved, lost, lived. I’ve integrated my SLness into my RLness. I may not be inworld as much as I used to show up but believe me – SL is in my world all the time. SL has given me many of the “times of my life”.

AH4B
I’m four.
Sometimes that’s hard for me to believe. Four years and I’m still here. So much has changed, yet so much is the same. I have nothing pithy to say, nothing interesting. Dale assures me that the tradition for a rez day is to jump naked. Dale offered to assist me in this (I suspect in the naked part, not so much in the
jumping part). *grin* Unlike Chestnut, who is reveling in a new, super-duper computer which is rezzing SL on ultra, I am on the road, with only my work laptop, not my gaming computer. This machine is laggy to the nth degree in SL. Getting naked with lag? Could be a bad idea. But I figured why not? So I got up early, rezzed in, undressed, and jumped. Alone. 🙂 Here you have it
– Ahuva’s naked rez day leap. The photo titles speak for themselves. Well, maybe not completely. No question but the ducks were a bit taken aback. *grin*
Rez Day Bookends
Started the week with a rezday (Lalo’s) and ended the week with a rezday – Marx’s. They both turned FOUR. Wow. *grin* Sooooo much older than I. 🙂 Marx spun the tunes for us and we all gathered at The Listening Room, now in its new location in Edloe. Besides the fun of the tunes Marx played and the good-natured and, occasionally, erudite, banter, I got to see some friends I’ve not seen in AGES. Had a nice long chat with someone, which is always good for the soul.
Typical Evening at Fogbound
Lalo and I have re-sync’d our schedules the last few days and have been dancing. Yesterday was his rez day. We celebrated by going to Fogbound, one of our favorite dance venues. We think they have the best dances. It was a lovely relaxing evening, and Evanrude Anton was totally hot in his DJ’ing. Or when it’s the blues do I say “was totally cool in his DJ’ing”? Whichever. Evan had one great tune after another. It was a lovely way to celebrate a rez.
.
.
Tonight we got inworld just in time to catch Taunter’s last 3 songs. And she sang one she learned at my request: Leonard Cohen’s ” Dance Me to the End of Love. Ah, that was lovely Taunter. Then we headed back to Fogbound to dance to the blues. Evan was DJ’ing again, stylish in his stocking cap. As you can tell by the pics, just your typical weeknight crowd down at the bar. 🙂 Everyone loves relaxing at Fogbound.
Chestnut Rau’s 4th Rez Day
There is nothing more fun than seeing someone’s hard work pay off. My good friend Chestnut Rau had her 4th rez day yesterday. Zha wanted to do something special and fun for Ches, so Zha arranged a surprise party. She got Zachh Cale to play piano and sing for an hour and then Marx Dudek came in to DJ and spin the tunes. Both of these folks are among Chestnut’s favorite entertainers and friends. Crap Mariner wrote a 100-word story in Chestnut’s honor and we all got to hear him read it aloud for the very first time. Scores of folk came through Zha’s gorgeous, fantastic party-build. Zha had beauty, robot-comfort, dancing and even a touch of kitsch. It was fun not only for Chestnut but for all her friends who got to meet and greet each other too.
Considering that Chestnut had given strict instructions that there was to be NO PARTY, it’s a good thing we know when not to listen. *grin*
There were too many pictures to post, and far too many attendee names to list. Photos are all up on Flickr.
For the party that never was, it may have been the party of the year. Happy happy rez day, Chestnut!
Happy Rez Day, Daez!
I try to mention rez day parties in advance, but this one was a SURPISE!!!! Daez turned 4 the other day (I know she HATES that I mentioned that but I have LOTS of friends who are WAAAAAAAY older – believe me. I have ONE friend who is… omg… 6. And another who rezzed in Dec 2004. So you are YOUNG!)
Dz wanted to make the day very very special for Daez and planned many wonderful things, among them a surprise party at The BluJnz Blu club in Honey Harbour. Noma Falta, Rocker Extraordinaire, rocked us for a solid hour. There is nothing as much fun as Noma partying, laughing and joking and teasing the guest of honor.
It wouldn’t be a dance party if we weren’t dancing on Daez’s hud. Daez has the best assortment of dances and knows how to match dance to tune flawlessly. I need to start taking videos instead of stills, so you can see the great dancing.
As part of her surprises, Dz had a slide show of pics running on the stage. To my great delight, she included one with me, with us both wishing Daez a happy rez day!
*MWUAH* Daez!! Love you love you love you!!!! You are a very important part of my SL. Happy rez day, and thanks for being part of my life! ❤

Rez Days
Unbelievable. HellSpawneD and Prad have been in SL for 3 years now, and SL is still standing. *grin* Kind of hard to believe, isn’t it? And aren’t our lives richer for knowing them both. I caught up with Hell and Natalya the night before REZDAY. It was a wonderful re-entry for me. I seem to have been over-doing RL again and dropped from the land of the living for awhile. Hell and Nat were at a really fantastic club – or maybe it was the really fantastic DJ’s: Cher and Carmine at the U’Bar in Lusiana. I was really enjoying the music and then, of course, things got crazy. I don’t have the picture of me in full dragon avatar (go see the pictures from Cringe and Wear It ) wearing high heels instead of dragon feet. But I only did it because I felt compelled to match Hell’s red monster av. *grin* NOT my fault. At some point in the proceedings Cher and Carmine passed out pogo sticks to everyone in the bar. What fun! 🙂 Not only did I get a pogo stick, but I learned new British slang too. 🙂 Live and learn!
Last night was the celebration for Prad at the C2P. *grin* Talk about getting out of control….. The chat log is x-rated, the DJ’ing was x-rated. Some of the outfits were x-rated. Great music. I think we can say that a good time was had by all. I took waaaaaaaay too many pictures to post here. If you want to see all the incriminating photos (there was a rumor that Prad was DJ’ing au natural) go to my Flickr account.
Happy Rez Day, Prad and Hell!!! You RAWK!
Happy Rez Day, Oura!
Oura had her first rez day this week! We celebrated by hitting as many events as we could in a limited period of time. 🙂 We both love live music and dancing so you KNOW there was going to be a lot of that!
We started the evening at the Art Box. Dale blogged about this recently. It is a wonderful build and a lot of fun! Oura had been there earlier in the day and enjoyed it so much she insisted we go back so that I could try it. We picked Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks. One of the many nice features of Art Box is the background/description they supply for the pictures.
A Sonnet of Love / Rob Hefferan.
Rob Hefferan is an extraordinarily talented figurative artist & portrait painter, born in 1968 in Warrington, Cheshire, England. For Hefferan, realism is about bringing an awareness of the everyday in a very beautiful and optimistic way. Specialising in the female form, he says “”I aim to capture the character and soul of the sitter and to freeze that moment forever”.
Nighthawks / Edward Hopper
Edward Hopper, born 1882, was a prominent American realist painter, his piece ‘Nighthawks’ being generally considered Hopper’s most famous painting, as well as one of the most recognizable in American art. Painted immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, it reflected the sense of gloom prevailing in the country at the time. However, the portrayal of modern urban life as empty or lonely is a common theme throughout much of Hopper’s work; he said, “unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city.”
The Art Box ‘Nighthawks’ set was used in the creation of a machinima film intended to capture this sense of isolation in 3D. The film is on YouTube here: Nighthawks
From there we jumped to the Gallery of Light at the Crown and Pearl. Bailey Dazy is displaying her photography there this month and the opening for the show was that night. Besides being a fun person, gorgeous Neko and great dancer, Bailey is a resident of Angel Square and a DJ at the Crown and Pearl. About herself she said: “Second Life photography is a passion; it’s something I truly enjoy. When the mood strikes, I shoot… and I often enjoy what I see.” You can see Bailey’s photos at the CnP or on her Flickr site. Much as we wanted to stay and keep partying at the CnP to the tunes Bailey Longcloth was playing, time was working against us if we wanted to hit the live performances.
So it was off to Noma Falta rocking SL from Wiseguys. I love some of the dance balls I encounter. I don’t know about you, but I have NEVER done backflips or splits while I am dancing in RL. In SL, however, I can bend like Gumby. Better. 🙂 So Oura caught these pics of us dancing on our heads. It helps when there is no law of gravity. By the way – if you notice the improved photo quality, that is because Oura took all these pictures. *grin* The difference is immediately apparent. Yay Oura!
While we were at Toby’s I found out that my friend Bob was DJ’ing at Ruby’s, rocking with the blues. Okay, I love the blues. I wanted to hear Bob DJ’ing. So although it hurt, we left Noma early and went to Ruby’s. I don’t think I’ve ever been there before. I like the dance floor and the synchronized dance balls. Faust had caught up to us at that point and he was partying alongside us. *grin* I think I’ve mentioned my good friend Faust before. Check out his cool hat.
We were having a great time at Ruby’s, dancing up a storm. But we were racing against the clock still and needed to make Von Johin’s concert at Ruby’s. *grin* Never a dull moment in SL. Von was great as ever. Faust saw someone wearing a green dragon on his shoulder and fell in love with the dragon. Faust IM’d the gentleman, who told Faust that the dragon was found in a hunt. I mentioned this to Oura. LOL. Oura not only KNOWS everything, she probably HAS everything in her inventory. In this case, she did NOT have the dragon, but she did know which hunt and which store. I am happy to say that Faust was able to track down the proper hunt and find the prize and now sports a dragon on HIS shoulder. *grin* It takes so little to make some of us happy. My dear friend Nat often has a bunny on HER shoulder and it always makes me smile.
The evening was getting long at this point. Von’s sim was full and Jonah couldn’t tp in to join us. I decided that perhaps it was time for me to call it quits – I’d already done quite a bit of adventuring on the road earlier in the day. So we timed it well and I tp’d out and Jonah was able to tp in and join Oura and Faust. I headed home to get tucked into bed and sleep, in preparation for a new day of partying!
Happy Rez Day, Oura! I hope you had as much fun as I did! I’m so glad we’re friends! Ahuva ❤ Oura.
Chestnut’s Magic Build
Chestnut made the most incredible build for my rez day party. Gorgeous. Magical. FULL of flowers (because I really like flowers). Beautiful trees too (Chestnut, unlike SOME of us (me) KNOWS how to make a tree). Colors and flowers and lights and flowers and a moon and more flowers. Did I mention
that there were lots of FLOWERS??? She turned Thornbridge into the sort of fantasy that makes SL so special. It was breathtakingly wonderful and happy and light-hearted and magical. I guess, really, the only word that truly describes it is “neat”. LOL. Okay – there is someone now reading this and blushing like crazy. The rest of us are laughing. Ches unveiled the build to a friend and asked for feedback. *grin* The verdict? “Neat.” /me rolls eyes and starts laughing again. Ah Chestnut – it was so far beyond neat – it was everything I could have hoped or wanted. I loved it. Every single prim. I don’t know how long you can leave Thornbridge like that, but we need to go back and picnic and meditate and chase butterflies and stretch out on a blanket and simply revel in the beauty.
My rez day party was fantastic. The build, as I said, was neat. 🙂 No – you will NEVER live that down. But Chestnut had the best possible music as well: Kyle Beltran. I LOVE Kyle. I have posted about him before here. He puts on a fantastic show. He sings, plays the piano, covers other people’s songs as well as his own compositions.
Kyle is so witty and articulate and funny. We were laughing the entire time. I love Kyle’s shows; I was delighted at how many of my friends were IM’ing me to tell me that they, too thought he was great. That even though they really needed to log, they couldn’t because they didn’t want to stop listening to Kyle. If you’ve never heard Kyle – remedy that. He has CDs for sale, performs regularly in SL and is a wonderful talent. Thank you SO much, Kyle, for agreeing to perfom. I had a wonderful, wonderful time listening and laughing with you. *hugs*
Thank you to all my friends who were there to help make the party special. I was so touched and honored that you came. I love the work I do in virtual worlds. I love the mental stimulation, the challenges, throwing myself under the bus again and again. But mostly – I love you. I love laughing and talking and sharing our lives. I know that for so many of you it was an effort to be there. Natalya and Hell – you are amazing. Staying up til 2am your time to come party with me. You are wonderful. I know at least 2 of you were SUPPOSED to be working. *grin* So I won’t mention your names, but you know who you are and so do I. To all of you – thank you and thank you again. Seeing you and partying with you was the best rez day present I could have. *hugs* to you all.
I took a million pictures. Okay, about 60, I suppose I DO tend to exaggerate on occasion. *grin* They are up on Flickr, of course. I am including several of them here as well. This way you can see the gorgeous build, and my wonderful friends. Hell also took pictures. He has a wonderful one – imaginative angle, framing. Check it out. That is how SL photography SHOULD be done. Thank you, Hell!

Chestnut – you are simply amazing. Thank you my dear dear friend. You went so far above and beyond anything that I expected. You created a magical SL wonderland. You found the best entertainment. You even put out food!!!! *grin* yummy! I think this may have been one of the most special, incredible things anyone has ever done for me. Thank you. It was perfect. I love it. I love you. I am so glad that we are friends.
.
I gave Oura a copy of my “dancing in my chains” ribbons and she did me the great compliment and honor of wearing them. And Calli, beautiful Calli. It was SUPPOSED to be all about ME. ME = Ahuva!!!!! LOL. Your dress was stupendous. Breathtaking. We all inspected the information and did a search on the creator. *grin* We will all be Calli-wannabees.

Of course, after the party, I had to relax and go over the whole thing again. 🙂 So I stretched out on my carpet, pose courtesy of the talented Bailey Longcloth, wearing my new teddy bear slippers from zazek, and discussed the party, art, life and SL with Oura and Calli. All in all – a perfect perfect night.
