I’m Not OK

I try to keep my various interests segregated in my social media. But there comes a time when I can no longer limit myself in that way. I’m not OK. The vast majority of my friends and family are not OK.

Yesterday my husband and I were in New York. I think we must have gotten to Times Square shortly after the exhibit (? demonstration? wounded cry from the heart?) was completed. A Shabbos table with places for all the kidnapped. There were professional photographers inside the ropes taking pictures not only of the exhibit but the many people lining the ropes. People waving Israeli flags, wearing “I Stand With Israel” t-shirts.

Although I believe these pictures need no words – notice the childrens’ table in the middle

Chabad was there helping men lay tefillin, giving out Shabbat candle lighting kits. My husband was talking to one of them (of course he was) while I took photos. I have a candle lighting kit although my husband passed on laying tefillin.

Another reason we decided the exhibit must be newly finished was that there were no protesters. Many, many supporters, many police, no protesters. I’m not sure how NYC managed that.

We were in NYC to see Melissa Etheridge and have an anniversary dinner, but we stopped to pay our respects. We were there for 20 minutes or so (I take a lot of photos) and the entire time the crowd was respectful, peaceful, somber.

I stand with Israel. My people – we are suffering. I make no claims that the government is always right. No claims that we are the only ones suffering. But we are the ones who have over 200 people kidnapped. Bring the hostages home.
